50501 FRIDAY BRIEFING | MARCH 13, 2026
Find your people and get ready to show up for No Kings 3.
📌 Note for new readers: The 50501 Movement organizes peaceful action across all 50 states to defend democracy. This publication is nearly 100k readers strong and growing. If this resonates with you, hit subscribe.
A court voided Kari Lake's authority over Voice of America. The SAVE Act could still block millions of eligible voters. DHS oversight offices are being gutted. The March 28 action guide dropped and readers are already making plans. And an article reviewing the bad-faith myths about No Kings.
MONDAY: Three Weekend Stories About Who Gets to See, Vote, and Be Protected
A federal judge ruled that Kari Lake had been running a major U.S. government media agency without lawful authority and voided her actions.
She laid off more than 1,000 journalists and reduced Voice of America from broadcasting in 49 languages to four.
Trump escalated pressure on Congress to pass the SAVE America Act, which would require documentary proof of citizenship to register to vote. An estimated 69 million American women do not have a birth certificate matching their current legal name, often because of marriage.
And court records revealed that key DHS oversight offices meant to investigate abuse and protect civil rights were drastically reduced.
TUESDAY: Where to Find 50501 Online
A guide to our digital ecosystem and why no serious movement can afford to live on just one platform and where to find us throughout the internet.
A movement that relies on one algorithm, or one company’s terms of service can be easily manipulated. That’s why we’re building intentionally across Communities, Discord, and Substack, and why the post walked readers through what each space does best.
WEDNESDAY: The Flagship March 28 Action Guide
A step-by-step guide for March 28: how to find your event, bring people with you, boost the signal online, understand your rights, get trained in nonviolent de-escalation, prepare for the day, and make a sign. Every section ended with something you could do immediately.
The No Kings Coalition has more than 2,200 events planned across all 50 states (many more added daily!), Washington D.C., and a dozen countries. The flagship gathering is in Minneapolis–St. Paul, deliberately chosen because of the federal enforcement escalation that has defined 2026 in that region.
One reader signed up to volunteer for safety and de-escalation. Another is bringing first-timers to the Capitol in Hartford. Another wrote that Nashville on March 28 will be their third No Kings event and they are coming with four friends. 🎉 Huge shoutout to our community members who engage, comment, and share to help grow these protest numbers!
THURSDAY: No Kings: Myths and Facts
We answered some misconceptions.
Before the last two No Kings actions, Republican leaders and Trump officials tried to paint peaceful civic protest as dangerous before anyone showed up. Speaker Mike Johnson called it a “Hate America” rally. Karoline Leavitt told Fox News that Democrats cater to violent criminals.
Then nearly seven million people showed up peacefully at more than 2,700 events.
Thursday’s post tackled the biggest myths:
Is it violent?
No. No Kings is organized as a nonviolent action, and the coalition is actively running safety planning, marshaling, and de-escalation trainings ahead of March 28. Its own safety guidance says participants are expected to de-escalate conflict, act lawfully, and not bring weapons of any kind, including legally permitted ones.
Is it illegal?
No. Peaceful protest is legal. In fact, No Kings is hosting ACLU-led trainings on protest rights and safety ahead of March 28. As always, local rules may vary by location, but peaceful assembly itself is a constitutional right.
Is it just about Trump?
No. This is about whether anyone in power gets to act like the law, the Constitution, and the public only matter when they are convenient. “No Kings” is a rejection of strongman politics, corruption, cruelty, and rule by fear.
Clarity is part of preparation.
What myth about No Kings have you heard most from people in your life? Drop it below so we can address it directly next week.

Movements grow one conversation at a time… be the conversation.

All of these.
Please keep them coming.
Hoping people are being reminded that MLK said we can’t let them make us hate them. Our training needs to include how to do this.
