Democratic socialism is on the rise! The answer is clear and more people are convinced of its validity. The rabid Republicans and do nothing Democrats have met their Waterloo. Progressive philosophy brought America to the peak of humanitarian awareness and it cannot be defeated by the miscreants now in power. They are a house of cards, ready for collapse. November will see that happen. We'll win this battle but still fight the war for our civilization. Don't give up because history will honor you for your courage.
I've come to realize that despite my disappointments in this bedraggled nation, I'm a raging patriot. I work at school, and I still choke up saying the pledge. I can't watch a parade without tearing up. But I never considered myself a patriot. Not really. I always gave my heart to my state. Now I realize they are pretty much inseparable. I believe our Constitution was a gift, a kind of promise and challenge that each generation should take seriously, so that justice for all could become an actual state of being, where people could come for a better life or to survive persecution and war. Surely, there's room on the porch for one more. This weekend, sing out freedom. Celebrate this grand experiment and pledge allegiance to America. Refuse to let exhaustion, worry or fear stop us from standing and letting this ugly regime know we are not giving up on our dreams.

It’s the statement that every human being knows in his or her heart is the rock bottom truth: all us are created equal.
Yeah the writers meant it for themselves as white men but WE, the 99%, know the truth: “All HUMAN beings were created equal.” And us lovers of the earth go even further. "All BEINGS were created equal."
As you said so perfectly, the founding fathers' words turned out to be bigger than they were. and longer lasting.
Thank you. So many of us are conflicted about celebrating the July 4 holiday when democracy is in peril, as am I. However, I'm not letting them have the flag or democracy. I will hang it, I will protest with it in upside down glory, and I will laugh and likely cry. Thank you again for reminding us that the future and the past is ours. This struggle is a relay race and it's ok to rest for a bit to let someone else carry the baton for a while. We can do this if we all work together.
This year I will be celebrating Independence Day in memory of my father in law a US Army veteran who passed away on July 1. He served honorably and defended the Constitution of the United States. He was a husband and a father to two boys that were not his own and gave his very best to his family and his community.
It blows my mind how ignorant the current administration is regarding democratic socialism vs. communism. One cares for the people, the other preserves the State at the cost of the people.
