As attention stayed on the conflict overseas, CMS moved ahead with cloud modernization and Oracle received expanded approval to provide AI services for government use.
This regime treats our data with the same disregard they treat national security, international law, our (former) allies, the Constitution, the safety of children… really anything that should be regarded with the utmost care.
Only a matter of time and we shall have techied ourselves to oblivion. Just as "big doesn't mean better," "more" isn't the epitome of success. Chasing money has consumed our society. The oligarchs are in control and care not one iota for anything other than their own well being. Watch and weep for the future is assuredly in much danger.
I guess there is no opt-out…. the oligarchs have purchased control with no oversight (the tech bros speed & brake it to learn & out compete for the pot of gold ). … & our data is gold!
Agree always good to stay attentive to many other things instead of the shiny objects don’t do so at one’s peril the consolidation of such alone is enough to keep one busy. As one who has been paying attention I’m also concerned with the fast rate of which these things are happening and how under the radar they have been which always gives me pause without any real we the people transparency so the why none, what are they trying to hide. It’s also interesting to me that after ad nausea years of the propaganda rhetorical “get government out of our businesses/lives” “government is to large” etc etc here we are with some of these same sorts doing exactly what they’ve protested against without a concern - oxymoronic to be sure so what could go wrong. Ai is supposedly supposed to be a data gathering, analytics/metrics and predictive tool that is supposedly supposed to make things better and more efficient correct, that’s how it was sold/told and to an extent with limitations/limits that might be the case. As one example of the gov to big out of our business lives scenario we had dodge come in under the guise of efficiency. Not only were there so many data breaches, stolen/pilfered data billions $ wasted some still unaccounted for, subsidies and gov contracts given (our tax dollars) people that didn’t know their whatever they called him something about his balls as if that alone really makes one capable or credentialed for actually doing a good job let alone the job title/position itself. That is only one example of real inefficiency that would have been better with those in their jobs were left in their positions in the first place instead of all being let go for the ai dodge bros. The cost did not produce the results at least not good ones. There are so many examples of the ai incongruities we’ve been sold and imo the jury is still out while the costs continue to rise with all the hidden non transparencies. I’m one who is all for efficiency and or streamlining when need be or getting rid of the waste whether in gov., business, our representatives supposed representation, personnel, systems or personally but I’m not into lack of intelligence, integrity or stupid. To me it takes real focus and strategic thinking to do so which also means qualified people not an ai free for all at the sake of that. As mentioned in this piece also the conglomeration monopolies of such companies whether in gov or other concerns me also I am one for a few and fair market never in history whether ai or other has it ended good without free and fair markets. In fact it’s more often than not the entrepreneurs that shake things up and bring the real change. Using my own predictive analysis skills I also ask this question how many tech next best things or other companies within one’s life have you seen come and go here today gone tomorrow? Always #1 for me is the people without which one can’t have a good government/governance, business or country/democracy and yes I still question how ai can coincide for the good without free that after all it’s supposed to supposedly be a helpful tool not the other way around I will never be ai’s tool even though there wouldn’t be any ai, facial recognition/other, data without any of us and I really do not think any want this tool used against them, something to really think about imo. Prediction - getting back to the cost effectiveness I really don’t think anyone wants to be (now) penny supposed wise and (future) foolish that will cost more than any really bargained for.
Of course, it is concerning, it is frightening. It is already done. It might catch a fraud but we can count on it messing with our healthcare. There are great troubles now and more ahead. Most hurtful financially and morale defeating is that the rot is so immeshed throughout our government, finance world, food supply. BUT I see daffodils blooming, the pale green of new leaves unfurling, the people staying engaged(Iran horror did not take away the demand for the Epstein files). God’s planet is renewing another time. It is up to we, the people, to keep working to defeat evil, to regulate AI for good use, to learn how to fight the high tech way.
Oracle is a horrible company. They do not keep information safe. The company is known to piecemeal its software. Customer support is non-existent. The software can be difficult to use. Licensing policies are restrictive and confusing. A class action lawsuit was filed in 2025. Guess who owns it: Larry Ellison, big Trump supporter.
People are far less efficient than AI , I read Sam Altman say (in essence ). Our humanity is crumbling whilst we stare at screens. Those of us who look up are the minority ( at least in my neck of the woods). I don’t like to admit this but I am afraid & oracle’s entanglement in Medicare is chilling
At my last visit with my Hematologist she asked me if I was ok with their new AI system. What is it? They have AI listening to the whole confidential medical visit on the premise that AI may put together whatever I say and suggest tests, possible medical reasons and better treatment plans so I get better care. Who buys this bullshit? Anyways, it was a polite question only. It was turned on whether I want it or not. And no, I can’t change doctors. I live in a small State and the entire state is under one medical system. They have a monopoly.

Destroying helping people because it is more efficient.
If used properly it would be a valuable tool, but with anti-democracy leaning actors operating it, it is scary.
In a for-profit economy, Ai is dangerous.
It must be severely regulated and violations severely prosecuted.
Our current regulation of capitalism is less than 20% effective.
We are all losing lives and futures, including the entrepreneurs.

No I don't even trust this a little! Government records should remain in Government control with strict safeguards.
I don't trust anything to do with Ellison or Musk.
This is so wrong in so many ways.
Damn. What happened to humans?!?!

Spread spread spread

I trust AI with nothing. This is horrifying.
