Congress has new articles of impeachment
Rep. Al Green of Texas filed H.Res. 1486 on August 24, new articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump. The resolution accuses Trump of abusing his presidential powers by allowing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and U.S. Customs and Border Protection to operate without accountability, assault civilians and cover up killings, including the deaths of Renée Good, Alex Pretti, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo and Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero.
FLARE USA & The Declaration of Support for Impeachment
FLARE USA, is the organization that maintained a protest and lobbying presence near the Capitol, they created a Declaration of Support for Impeachment you can check out by clicking here.
From the Declaration of Support for Impeachment, you can enter your address and identify your members of Congress.
It creates 3 declarations, one for your House representative and one for each senator.
After you electronically sign them, FLARE’s team will deliver the declarations to the congressional offices on your behalf.
FLARE is planning a three day congressional lobbying effort in Washington from October 6 through October 8, including an organizing kickoff, mass lobbying at congressional offices and follow-up accountability visits.
FLARE is doing great work and this is just few of the many examples of their incredible organizing.
The Midterms
First, Trump’s mail-ballot restrictions are blocked again
The Trump administration has been trying to impose new federal requirements involving mail ballots and the Postal Service, the Postal Service issued a 95-page rule requiring states to provide information on voters receiving mail ballots and comply with new envelope and barcode requirements. States that fail to comply could have ballots rejected from the mail system but then U.S. District Judge Indira Talwani temporarily blocked that rule. 🎉
Talwani found that the challengers were likely to succeed in arguing that the rule was unlawful and noted that the government had not shown evidence of mail-voting fraud that justified the requirements.
Talwani scheduled another hearing for September 3 to consider to issue a longer-term preliminary injunction.
More than 30% of voters cast ballots by mail in 2024, according to Reuters.
Justice Department officials showed up to Wyoming polling locations
Wyoming Gov. Mark Gordon requested an investigation after 2 Justice Department officials appeared at polling locations in Laramie County during their August 18 primary. Laramie County Clerk Debra Lee said the officials sought information about poll worker training and wanted to interview voters and asked to examine election equipment, Lee refused some of those requests.
Now Wyoming Attorney General Keith Kautz is conducting a fact finding investigation to what occurred. The Justice Department says its personnel were monitoring compliance with federal voting rights laws.
There’s currently no allegation that the officials changed votes or affected the primary’s outcome but why are federal officials there and what authority were they operating under?
The administration is escalating claims about noncitizen voters
Hundreds of USCIS fraud and national security officers have reportedly been redirected from immigration case work to examining voter information for possible noncitizen registrations.
State election officials examining the info have questioned how reliable those numbers are. Pennsylvania Secretary of the Commonwealth Al Schmidt, a Republican, said federal officials acknowledged they didn’t have high confidence that thousands of Pennsylvania names DHS identified actually represented improperly registered noncitizens.
Massachusetts votes Tuesday
Massachusetts has its primary tomorrow, Tuesday, September 1, 2026.
The Massachusetts ballot has a few major Democratic contests, including incumbent Sen. Ed Markey against Rep. Seth Moulton, there is also 2 congressional races that stand out to us.
Jeromie Whalen and Patrick Roath
Whalen is challenging longtime Rep. Richard Neal in Massachusetts’ 1st Congressional District and Roath is challenging longtime Rep. Stephen Lynch in the 8th District.
