The Supreme Court temporarily restored access to mifepristone by mail while it considers emergency requests from drug manufacturers, but that pause currently expires Monday, May 11, at 5 p.m. ET. The House also passed a budget resolution setting up a reconciliation process that could move major funding for ICE and Border Patrol, with committee recommendations due by May 15. And voting rights are under pressure from the Supreme Court’s Louisiana redistricting order, federal voter-data demands, and the ongoing SAVE Act fight.
You can find your senators through the U.S. Senate contact page, find your House member through the official House ZIP code tool, or call the Capitol switchboard at 202-224-3121.
Mifepristone access | The pause only lasts one week
The Supreme Court temporarily paused a Fifth Circuit order that would have restricted access to mifepristone by mail. SCOTUSblog reports that the administrative stay expires Monday, May 11, at 5 p.m. ET, unless the Court extends it.
The Associated Press reports that the order temporarily restores access through telehealth, mail, and pharmacies. The FDA states that mifepristone, used with misoprostol, is approved to end an intrauterine pregnancy through ten weeks gestation.
Who to contact: Both senators first, then your House member.
What to ask: Defend access to mifepristone. Oppose federal interference with FDA-approved medication for abortion and miscarriage care. Urge HHS and FDA not to impose new restrictions.
Phone script:
“Hello, I’m a resident of [ZIP code]. I’m calling to ask [Senator/Representative Name] to defend access to mifepristone and oppose any federal restriction on medication abortion or miscarriage care. The Supreme Court’s pause is temporary, and patients should not lose access to FDA-approved care because of political pressure. Please log my call and let me know the office’s position.”
Email subject:
Resident asking you to protect mifepristone access
Email body:
Dear [Senator/Representative Name], I am a resident of [city or ZIP code]. I am asking you to publicly defend access to mifepristone and oppose any federal effort to restrict medication abortion or miscarriage care. The Supreme Court’s temporary order does not resolve the threat. Patients in every state deserve access to evidence-based medical care without political interference. Please let me know your position. Thank you, [Name]
ICE and Border Patrol funding | Reconciliation is moving
The House passed S. Con. Res. 33 on April 29 by a vote of 215–211, setting up a reconciliation process that could move immigration-enforcement funding with a simple majority.
According to PwC’s summary of the budget resolution, the resolution instructs the House and Senate Judiciary and Homeland Security committees to submit reconciliation recommendations by May 15, 2026, and allows deficit increases of up to $70 billion over the 2026–2035 budget window for those jurisdictions. PwC also notes that Republican leaders have said the purpose is to fund ICE and Border Patrol.
Who to contact: Your House member first, then both senators.
What to ask: Oppose any reconciliation bill that expands ICE and Border Patrol funding without enforceable accountability, due process protections, transparency, and limits on enforcement abuse.
Phone script:
“Hello, I’m a resident of [ZIP code]. I’m calling to ask [Representative/Senator Name] to oppose any reconciliation package that gives ICE and Border Patrol a blank check. Any funding must include due process protections, transparency, clear identification requirements, and independent oversight. Please log my call and let me know the office’s position.”
Email subject:
Resident asking you to oppose ICE funding without accountability
Email body:
Dear [Representative/Senator Name], I am a resident of [city or ZIP code]. I am asking you to oppose any reconciliation bill that expands funding for ICE and Border Patrol without enforceable accountability and due process protections. Congress should not use a fast-track budget process to expand immigration enforcement without guardrails. Please let me know your position. Thank you, [Name]
Voting rights | The midterm map fight is already here
The Supreme Court has allowed its Louisiana Voting Rights Act ruling to take effect ahead of schedule. Reuters reports that the move gives Louisiana Republicans a faster path to pursue a new congressional map before the November midterms.
This comes alongside another voting-rights fight: federal demands for sensitive voter data. The Brennan Center’s tracker says DOJ has sued Washington, D.C. and 30 states for refusing to provide statewide voter-registration lists with driver’s license and Social Security numbers.
The SAVE Act suite is also still active. The League of Women Voters warns that these bills would require documentary proof of citizenship to register and/or vote, even though noncitizen voting is already illegal.
Who to contact: Both senators and your House member.
What to ask: Support federal voting-rights protections. Oppose the SAVE Act suite. Reject federal collection of sensitive voter data without clear legal authority and strong privacy protections.
Phone script:
“Hello, I’m a resident of [ZIP code]. I’m calling to ask [Senator/Representative Name] to defend voting rights before the 2026 midterms. Please support legislation restoring and strengthening the Voting Rights Act, oppose the SAVE Act suite, and reject federal efforts to collect sensitive voter data without strong legal and privacy protections. Please log my call.”

Email body:
Dear [Senator/Representative Name], I am a resident of [city or ZIP code]. I am asking you to defend voting rights before the 2026 midterms. Please support legislation restoring and strengthening the Voting Rights Act, oppose proof-of-citizenship barriers like the SAVE Act suite, and reject federal efforts to collect sensitive voter data without clear legal authority and strong privacy protections. Voters should choose their representatives. Politicians should not be allowed to manipulate maps, registration rules, or voter data systems to shape the electorate. Thank you, [Name]
A script that works for anything
For anyone who does not want to write a new message from scratch every week, this works for nearly any issue:

Could you add a script for the endangered species act? There's some crucial votes happening right now and I'm worried that the most successful species protection in us history will be dismantled without anyone noticing (which is obviously the plan). Thanks for all you do!
