My small town.. truly a MAGA hub..2 too many FOX personalities live here..had a small vigil and ICE OUT protest!! Many supporters!! A few middle fingers and one “COMMUNISTS” shout out!! But we sang, we chanted. And we felt empowered. More importantly, we made new connections for our next action!!
So glad you pointed out the fact there are so many ways to participate in a walkout! Locally, we’re seeing ever-expanding networks of people organizing to help others and prepare for what may be next. The mood is hopeful as in “we can do this!”

The following is an excerpt.
“For democracy to survive, it must be protected. In the past few decades, in countries such as Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, and Poland, opposition groups pushed back successfully against leaders with authoritarian tendencies early in the process of democratic backsliding, when they still had institutional levers to pull. But in other cases, such as Bolivia, El Salvador, Turkey, and Venezuela, oppositions either failed to act with sufficient urgency or used tactics that lost them their institutional levers, gradually hindering their ability to resist.
In the United States, the opposition’s response to the threat so far has been underwhelming. Reeling from electoral defeat and shocked by the blitz of the Trump administration’s power grabs, politicians and civil society groups are uncertain about the path forward and hesitant to take bold steps.
This delay is costly. If American democracy is to prevail, pro-democracy forces must follow the handbook that has enabled oppositions to stop would-be autocrats in other countries. They should coordinate to defend and expand their institutional powers while they have them, wield them to obstruct Trump’s authoritarian agenda, strengthen grassroots resistance efforts, and protect the activists, officeholders, and other individuals exposed to retribution from the administration. The alternative may be that democracy slips away while they wait.”

A Bold Step
We, the people, still have the power of the purse. No one can control our spending, or lack of spending. The other peaceful options are failing. Time is of the essence. We must go on a spending strike until the business community stops supporting His Royal Heinous and the politicians who enable him.
Stop participating. Nearly 70% of the U.S. economy is driven by consumer spending. You and me. Hobble the economy and the stock market.
Economic warfare is the only thing the oligarchs, the business community will understand and act on. Call it a Surreptitious General Strike (Quiet Quitting). Go to work, do as little as possible. Stop spending money except on essentials. Quit feeding the corporate beast that supports HRH.
Ya gotta get big action going in both Oregon and Ohio - ICE has invaded the first and will invade the second likely tomorrow (Feb 3) when the Haitian reprieve ends! I don't think the locals are as well organized as the Minnesotans and they're going to need big help, right away! (from a Canadian observer)
We don't give up. Demonstrations monthly leading to the next NO KINGS in March show our resolve. The dangers we must remove are real, this is not make believe. We are the true patriots because our defense of freedoms is part of the American DNA. We do not wear masks, our pride of identity is proof of courage. We do not lie, truth is the shield of protection we are proud to claim. Our triumph will provide a future of promise to those who are looking for examples of justice and peace. Stay safe and strong as we continue to defend our freedoms.
I visited a bookstore in WI and was handed a free "Ice Out" whistle with my book purchase. I did not need the whistle but thought, wow, this bookstore is so in touch with what is going on! I will share the whistle with someone I know who does not have one.
Yes, some of my friends are afraid to participate in protests and conversations about our current reality. For me participation brings a sense of satisfaction and community with like minded people and I feel supported. They do participate in other ways by writing letters and making phone calls. All is good and we move forward!
national shutdown is too broad and vague to be effective. tighten the focus on social media and/or online shopping strikes for an extended period of time. one day is barely a blip.
Monterey Ca -Saturday- very quickly organized 2 hour protest-Not as big as some maybe 400 people ( have had as many as 6,000)but many more young people-and the honk numbers were up by 50%- we now need ear plugs.Thanked many of the young people.
I will say for those interested, the judge's decision where he released Liam and his father is a fantastic read. Idk how much pressure did in his case because he was spitting nails in anger and every. Single. Line. Was a jab at the stupidity what this admin is doing with ICE.
I oppose any "strike" where people are asked to walk out from their job. Execs and well paid people won't/don't do that. The poor and low paid workers, who will participate because they are the most affected, can least afford to do that.
We need an ECONOMIC STRIKE, where everyone regardless of income can choose to disconnect from one of the largest retailers (Amazon, Walmart, or FaceBook) and 1) won't put their jobs in danger, 2) won't risk a run in with ICE, 3) have a much greater effect than a one day or one hour walk-out. People should be asked to withdraw from these Trump supporters for 3 months to actually see how much 'we the people' can change Trump's trajectory.

March 28 is a long way off.
Exactly! But it will be extraordinary!!👊🏻🇺🇸
Too long a way off. So much can happen between now and then. We'll lose interest and impact by waiting.

This is how we can stop the fascist takeover.

The ICE MAN Cometh
*
Lurking in the shadows
Peering around corners
Tracking your every move
The ICE MAN cometh
*
Nabbing your children
One by one
To lure you in
The ICE MAN cometh
*
Utilizing technology
Facial recognition cameras
Cell phone location identification
The ICE MAN cometh
*
Knocking down protesters
Pepper spraying bystanders
Harassing witnesses
The ICE MAN cometh
*
Repelling down ropes from helicopters
Breaking down doors
Dragging you out of bed
The ICE MAN cometh
*
No warrant
No reason
Indefinitely detaining you
The ICE MAN cometh
*
Arresting reporters
Arresting U. S. citizens
Racially profiling
The ICE MAN cometh
*
Whisk you away
To a third world prison
Over crowded and abused
The ICE MAN cometh
*
Justification be damned
Due process be damned
Constitutional rights be damned
The ICE MAN cometh
*
249 years of freedoms
Rescinded by false proclamation
Promoting false ideology
