After the streets emptied, readers shared what stayed with them... mothers, walkers, smiling strangers, new protesters, and a hope that's impossible to dismiss.
“Americans CAN stop this anytime without being arrested or punished in any way for their actions. STOP SPENDING on all but essential items and shift as much of that essential spending to local businesses. No need to stop eating out, just eat in locally run family eateries (NOT corporate chains). It’s about strategic spending decisions. It’s all about common sense, but if you need more detail, click here for my broader thinking. Given the SCOTUS ruling on tariffs, you now have even more power.
There is no case to be made for saying ‘there’s nothing we can do’ It really is very simple, and I would urge you to encourage everyone you know to become part of a sustained act of strategic economic disengagement, because I guarantee just by this most simple of actions, you can unlock the gate on the road back to real American values. A sustained 3-4% drop in consumer spending will occur if Americans have the collective and sustained patriotic determination to say ‘enough is enough’.
I have been to all 3 events here in SF where we fill the streets and it's dramatic. But at the first two, I just took my walker to Civic Center and stayed about 30 minutes, then went home.
On March 28, I found myself at the front of the march, shouting "No Magalomaniac Rule!" and carrying a sign saying MAKE ORWELL FICTION AGAIN. I followed all the way to the rally and stayed for two hours talking to people, engaging.
This feeling cannot be canceled by the flooding of news media reports with comments by bots and maga humans all saying the crap about "we don't have a king, we have a president". Might have been better to call this "No Tyrants" instead. But I will be moving forward. They're not stopping me.
Your name has meaning. A sally is a sudden, rapid rush forward, typically referring to a sortie from a besieged position, a witty remark, or an energetic, unexpected outing. It often implies a "sallying forth". It was also my dear mom's name, who would have been 96 this year.
First time and 75 y/o. I could not remain in the "silent majority" any longer. About half of our small town showed up to raise all our voices. God bless the best of America!
I found people from my church with like concerns. I had felt alone in a very red community. I now know I’m not alone and know people I can go to when I need to decompress over the extreme stress this administration is giving me on a daily basis.
This was my 3rd No Kings! However, it was one of many protests, strikes, boycotts, calls to reps, calls to constituents, emails to reps, writing and mailing postcards, neighborhood meetings, town hall attendances, texts to friends and family, monthly campaign donations, and VOTING.
It felt so good to be out there holding signs with my husband, son, grandson, and friend!
My hip was hurting. My husband's knee was hurting. Our friend just had a minor heart attack a few weeks ago. So we found a smaller rally nearby with good parking, brought lawn chairs, and sat on the side of the road with hundreds of others for an hour. It was wonderful to be with so many people who were there to show they know what's happening and won't accept it!
LET'S DO THIS! And get the things we've been wanting and needing SOOO long from our government!
3rd No Kings Rally. I like to call them rallies. Words matter and "rally" puts a positive spin on it. I walked around with my camera taking pictures and talking to people. I let them know I was building an album to put online. Only a couple people covered their faces. I respect that. Most all of them posed for the pictures with big smiles. I wanted to catch the joy of the day. Everyone I spoke with was happy to be there and concerned about the current state of the country. People thanked Veterans for their service, groups of teenagers joined in the singing and the elders were front of the line waving signs. It very much reminded me of that song from the 70s "Saturday in the Park" by Chicago because that's what it felt like. It looks just like the 4th of July...
Attended my second No Kings and I can’t wait for the next one! It was a day of community and like minded people who came together for the love of country, our democracy, and one another. Power to the people - united we stand - divided we fall. We are united!!
My first No Kings protest. Filled with joy, hope, community in the state of Florida. As a snowbird I was reluctant and felt everyone who was a resident of Fl naturally was MAGA. So very wrong! People I suspected as MAGA were indeed very constitutional loving individuals, fed up with this admin antics. I am 73 and will continue to spread the word and encourage others to engage in a positive way! I carried a sign that said….psalm: 109:8.

Absolutely! Strategic local spending, boycotts, and sustained consumer pressure are all part of how we build power beyond No Kings

Third and already looking forward to the fourth! I want to see us surpass 10 million -- we're out there! WE CAN DO IT!
Basking in the NK3 glow while focused on what’s next!

#3 NO KINGS Protest! I’m 82 years young…

This was our third No Kings protest and we'll keep coming. This time we brought two friends.

My third! And this time with my two children. I'm so concerned for my grandchildren!

#2 in north Las Vegas. Crowd was twice as big as the last one. The local news was there. Great turnout, message delivered.
3rd! March and rally in Jacksonville fl
All 3!
