What it represents and everything about it is alarming! Americans want immigration reform, not concentration camps! What we know already about many of the existing “facilities” is hideous. I heard from a former detainee, now deported, about her year in the South Louisiana (Basile) Core Civic camp 😩 Dilly now has a measles outbreak, people are mistreated, denied medical care and other human rights abuses. We, the People have to STOP THIS!
I fear that consumerism, like greed, is an addiction for many. (But it’s my grandchild’s birthday, my wedding, Christmas is coming, that’s something I’ve wanted for months and it’s finally available, I can’t resist that low sale price, etc.)
I believe we’re in a crisis, and shopping is the antidote for many when they feel sad or worried. But folks, if you can triumph over your shopping addiction, you can triumph over the destruction of your country.
The control you have over your spending is your best weapon against the cruelty of the MAGAts and oligarchs. Every time we buy something we don’t need, we give permission to being ruled by oligarchs.
I apologize if I sound preachy, but I’m scared. And angry with the way self-obsessed billionaires are taking control over government, media, trade, education, research, environment, healthcare, etc.

Apparently all of these acquisitions are being made outside of the standard GSA (Government Services Administration) prescribed methods of acquiring property. No competitive bidding, just rushed purchases. Why is all these acquisitions necessary right now? What is the urgency? And how will the government unload these properties at anywhere near the price paid for them? Is this a mega-expansion of the private jail sector? What businesses will be hired to "process the "inmates"? There is no information available to answer any of these questions as far as I have found.
You don’t buy if it’s short term, you lease. Who goes in there after they’ve met their immigrant quotas? If you’re not motivated to vote these people out now, then you are a fool to think they won’t come for you and people you love.
This move is obviously aimed at building concentration camps which will house many more people who oppose the current government; they are using our tax dollars with plans to lock more of us up. There are NOT this many people guilty of crimes or entering the country illegally as they are building these camps for. It is Naziism 101. As a medical professional I am very concerned about medical coverage and disease spread in these proposed centers. How can they possibly have adequate toileting and hygiene areas for so many human beings? It’s going to be a great time if you’re a virus or bacteria. I’m currently embarrassed and ashamed to be an American. Unfortunately, this administration doesn’t appear capable of feeling those emotions. It’s time for the American people to rise up in massive numbers and protest!

Our tax dollars are currently paying around $4B a year to private prison corporations to house detainees. They want to double that. It’s another billionaire racket. Why do you think no one is actually getting deported like he promised?
In some rare good news for MS, the plan for the 8,500 “bed” concentration camp in Byhalia has been scrapped thanks to Sen Roger Wicker. I’m sure he had some ulterior motive, but I’ll take it for now.
