Vietnam Veterans Against the War, VVAW’s, motto was “Never again will one generation of veterans abandon another.” This tradition has carried over to cohorts that followed.
I was quite moved by all the videos I saw of this protest. What a 180-degree difference from Jan 6. These are true patriots, the ones who know the effects of war.
These protesting veterans are patriots and should never have been arrested. Those overseas fighting illegal wars and murdering innocent civilians should be the ones in handcuffs. Those police officers who arrested the protesters should have resigned before obeying their orders. They are cowards and do not deserve to wear a badge.
Phone banked for VA, mainly alongside boomers - and most were female boomers to be precise. Multiple people on our Democrat-only roster had received calls from several agencies… and the proposal passed narrowly.
My takeaway: Blue to blue organization is strong and still boomer-led, but it’s not enough. Could you share the inventive ways we might register first time young voters and bring purple into blue? Or, where purple registrations are not able to help given local laws (if that’s a thing)? That feels like sowing the seeds for a longer term generation, fighting for democracy
I really appreciate this perspective. Blue-to-blue organizing helps, but it can't be the whole strategy. We need stronger youth outreach, clearer civic education, and better ways of reaching persuadable people without it seeming like talking down to them. And yes! We can absolutely create an article on this. :)
I agree with you. Sometimes I do not recognize the America I am living in now. I still cannot understand why Republican lawmakers cannot honor their oath to The Constitution instead of loyalty to one man who probably has not even read it, let alone put his hand on the Bible when he took the oath in 2025.
I hear this. What''s so painful right now is also the gap between the Constitution people swear to uphold and the behavior we keep seeing has become impossible to ignore.
If they were peaceful in their presence, then they were exercising their right to free speech. On what legal grounds were they being zip tied and removed by police?! It does not appear they were breaking any laws.
It's time for a revolution when We the People have to protect our family in the military from the military itself. Fight for those who fight for us. The country and freedom were losing ain't on the other side of the world. It's right here at home.
Start up the militias. Protect your children & your posterity. Don't wait until you can't afford food, fuel, & bullets.
The country, the Constitution, our way of life and the Liberty you swore to uphold ain't in Iran. It's right here at home. The enemy is domestic. To anyone who has the courage and the opportunity, do what you have to do and then blame ME. I ordered it, we’ll go to trial together.
Is there not a patriot, a Minuteman, freedom fighter, a brave, or a man amongst you?
This is an outrage
It really is. Peaceful veterans should never be zip-tied for trying to stop another catastrophe.
Thank you for making the historic connection!

This was my tribute to them Veterans Day 2025:

What these veterans did was deeply courageous. I keep coming back to the fact that they acted peacefully while trying to stop more suffering.

I'm reminded of the Bonus Army incident... America has consistently stood for these principles.
It's time, once again, for every American to stand for these principles. Lip service is for politicians.

This is what real courage, conviction and patriotism looks like. Thank you!
Whatever someone thinks politically, treating veterans this way after a peaceful antiwar action should alert us all.

That is the question a lot of people are asking. Peaceful protest should not be treated like a threat, and especially our veterans.
God Bless🙏🥰

This administration doesn’t great job of pretending the people support this war! Most do not!
They will do anything to suppress anyone who brings attention to that fact, including arresting veterans!
Exactly. They keep pretending public support is stronger than it is, and then punish the people brave enough to expose the truth.
Shameful! No way to treat people who literally bled to preserve freedom.
This is horrible
Trump won’t pardon true patriots
God Bless🙏🥰
