Guess I'm the proverbial cockeyed optimist because I believe evil ends when the correct actions occur. Voting can turn the tide and it will as millions of voters know Trump and his enablers to be the amoral creatures that they are. It won't be easy but their moment in history will be one of the darkest and a lesson to be learned for the future. Always remember defending freedom is worth more than anything money can buy.

Beautifully said, Joanne. Do you think younger voters are feeling that same sense of urgency this year?

Thank you. Yes, I think younger voters realize Trump and his administration have no concerns for any Americans other than the wealthy portion. "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me." Explanation for electing this fraud twice. His hard-core supporters will never accept the obvious. But too many voters now know the emperor has no clothes. Truth eventually wins. We'll prove it at the ballot box. Oh, I'm 87 and still that optimist.

If we keep up the momentum of peaceful resistance and education and if the Republicans keep bending their knees, the tide will turn. It won't be simple or easy. People are seeing that Trump and the GOP don't care what the voters think.

When the people vote, the people win. We've seen FAR TOO MANY elections with less than 60% of the people voting. Yes, they have put up obstacles. Yes, they are making it harder for citizens to vote. That should tell you exactly what they are afraid of, MORE VOTERS!

Well said! With a 37% approval rating more voters will be the end of these people who have lost sight of who they actually work for!

My hope is that today's election results (including the ballot initiative in CA) will make shy GOP senators sit up and find their spines. Of course, that depends on a sweep in NYC, NJ and VA, too. Fingers crossed. I'm also hopeful that the shutdown over medical insurance will awaken more GOP reps to the reality that they have a HUGE population that is suffering from their budget cuts. But they have to hear from their constituents--all of them, even their loyal base.

At this point I can hardly believe that America elected a 34x convicted felon, adjudicated rapist. This should NOT have happened. I don't understand how he was even allowed to run. It's asinine. We will see what happens today. I try to be optimistic but in a country that I see loosing It's humanity and the rule of law be thrown out the window it's hard.😫I'm exhausted seeing an evil man and people just saying oh well🤷‍♀️

the reason I feel our system is broken beyond repair is that it allowed someone like Trump and Project 2025 to run roughshod over our rights. There is a system called "Economic Democracy" that guarantees everyone gets an opportunity to earn a living wage BEFORE anyone is permitted to accumulate excess income. There are lively discussions exploring this now approach to economics and governance at:

I still read many pro Trump supporters, simingling oblivious to what he is doing. He has captured much media. He now has Social networks conceeding to his wishes. He has enabled ICE to utilize our social media accounts with the aid of AI to track all out comments... no dictator had such power, ever.

I was talking about this last night with some friends across the political spectrum. It seems like one of the main Democratic messages going into the next campaign session against the GOP is that if you vote Republican you are not electing a representative that will put your interest first. The entire GOP is solely doing the bidding of Trump and will put his interests above anyone else’s. Your GOP representative has no voice, your GOP representative has no power, your GOP representative has no accountability to you. Even for longtime Republicans, I think this is a very strong message for Democrats to send in the next election. Pound it home!!! Although there is a small portion of the population that approves of everything that is being done by this lawless administration, it’s becoming clear that a vast majority of all parties are not OK with this and want Congress to stand up and provide checks and balances. The Democrats need to make it very clear that the GOP will not do this, only Democrats will.

I think it depends on how far the supreme Court and the Republicans let this president go before the midterms. If they let him go to war, keep deporting so many people, continue to move even more wealth to the billionaires, it will be difficult to overcoming. It will be especially difficult for the poor to get to the polls. And that is where the balance might tip away from democracy.

I see that the Trump regime has made us hate each other rather than the mess he has made. That’s going to be hard to overcome

As a Canadian watching from the sidelines it's not clear to me that enough people are aware enough and angry enough at trump and the regime to make that correction....

Nov 5/25

OK, I was wrong - those long lines of voters in California staying in line to vote even after the Yes vote was confirmed the winner is proof that people were determined to make their voices heard!

A shout out to all of those who were aware, and angry, and determined enough to vote!

To those who didn't bother voting - You'll continue to get what you wanted because you didn't care enough to take some time to protest with your vote - food insecurity, significantly reduced health care, higher costs for just about everything including gas and electricity, a substandard education for your children/grandchildren, more wild fires/floods/hurricanes - and much reduced reimbursement for your losses....

In other words your world will continue to worsen because you could't be bothered to vote. Maybe the next time a vote is required you'll make the effort.

Your vote matters! You can effectively push back against a regime that doesn't give a shit about you and will continue to beat you down!

I answered "maybe" because the damage to our democracy has been a decades long project. The GOP appointees on the Supreme Court have systematically inflicted enormous damage and they have so far demonstrated that they have no buyer's remorse with anything the #DirtyOldMan has unleashed upon this country. It the court is not forced to course correct by repeated huge protests and strikes, threatening their billionaire benefactors' bottom lines, I do not know that out democracy can be saved. That said, giving up is unforgivable. This will take all of us.

The amount of American citizens that are showing up for the protests is a clear indication that America can fight this presidents unlawful power grab. I still have faith that there are judges that are doing the best that they can to fight also. We just have to stay committed now more than ever.

Unless you're a trump supporting billionaire, the system is working against the rest of us. A few examples: the government shutdown, the big bullshit bill that took from Medicaid, SNAP, and other necessary services to give corporations and billionaires an unnecessary tax break, unqualified sycophants destroying our institutions, trump's tariff taxes that are making inflation worse, DOGE firing experienced federal employees, trump going after higher education, law firms, and legacy media to control the narrative, harvesting our personal data for a centralized authoritarian database, the militarization of Democratic American states, disappearing people off our streets, letting a former heroin addict "go wild" with our healthcare, damaging our reputation on a global scale, siding with Putin and not helping Ukraine, blowing up fishing boats in international waters, and protecting pedophiles by not releasing the Epstein files!!! This is far from a complete list, but we MUST take back the House in 2026 and snatch that Sharpie out of that evil, narcissistic sociopath's bruised hand!

We can prevail IF we deal with Republicans' strong push to cheat to win. It's not just gerrymandering. The ELECTION TRUTH ALLIANCE are statisticians who are investigating voting patterns in the swing states. They have uncovered SIGNIFICANT RED FLAGS that indicate the voting machines have been tampered with - in favor of the Republicans. We MUST get to the bottom of the voting machines being manipulated. In addition, a hard-core MAGA Republican has just bought Dominion Voting Systems - which has voting machines that are used all over the US. He will definitely program those machines in favor of the Republicans. Voting machine integrity is the number one issue that must be dealt with - if we want our votes to count in the mid-terms.
