Cannot get over confident with this regime! Still hearing farmers who losing their livelihood say, “trump is a smart man!” Really? Keeping the pressure on is critical.

The majority of voters are not informed and local news has stopped reporting anything Trump doesn't want said. I have little hope that people will know or remember a year from now.

Yes, that would be a shame. I wrote all their names down and given the opportunity, when they run for re election, I will remind them.

The epstein files represent the darkest of corruption for trump ..it is not about his money ..it is about his victims. Now the entire country is his victim. Those young girls need to show all young people that WE THE PEOPLE CARE.

We will remember because he keeps doing dumb things! Now he's sending an aircraft carrier to the Caribbean AND is planning to send troops to ... Nigeria! The last for their treatment of people while HE wants to withhold food (SNAP and ACA subsidies) from Americans!

There's been too many people, from all sides (not a partisian issue, an American issue) for this shutdown to leave memory. Too many fed workers have been fucked over. They and their families and friends will hold onto these 43 days; this shutdown and the reasons in this substack, everyone will vote to do something. We are making change, we have to break through to each other in person, we have to research who we are electing and we have to hope that Jan 30th they fucking keep the government open.

With less than a 19% voter turnout in my county this month, I feel we have work to do in getting folks to pay attention.

Consumerism and day-to-day social media noise has taken over people's lives, blocking their attention from what matters I'm afraid.

The Senate did not achieve the impossible – getting the Republicans to release all the hostages. However, ending the shutdown at this point did achieve many goals: hungry children will receive SNAP funds, the House has reopened, and the Epstein files are on the way to being released. The just-go-along-with-it Republicans in Congress will most likely have to go on record with their votes in the upcoming budget battle. By keeping the shutdown going for as long as it did, the intentional cruelty of the strategy of those in power has been exposed at a level that is impossible to ignore.

Extending the government shutdown would not have better achieved our goals. Instead, it would have ratcheted up the fear, anger, and frustration that already fuels the tear-the-system-down mentality which keeps the other side in power.

I want to believe that voters will be able to remember all of the reasons why come election day, but there is so much propaganda being spread I can't let down the guard and have to keep the pressure on high. Is this hurting me physically and mentally? Hell yeah! Stress is a killer. But so is the fall of democracy. I will sacrifice to maintain democracy for the future generations!

Best boycott ever and those democrats gave them what they wanted, and no guarantees we'll even see all the Epstein files.

The Hedge Funds pay all the bills for both Republicans and Democrats and the kowtow to their every whim.

Until you call for dumping the two party system and all the career politicians you are just pissing in the wind.

I am thankful that 4 Republicans signed the discharge petition. But don't be fooled. They are trying to save their jobs. It's a stunt to get re-elected. Then they will return to being their terrible selves. Also, I think they signed on because they were told by leadership that the subsequent motions will NEVER pass the Senate. So basically, no harm, no foul.

Because many citizens do not pay close attention to objective news sources. They only watch Fox or listen to rightwing or evangelical influencers. If the pressure decreases, the stories will fade away and become unimportant.
