The results of the election give me hope. Watching others care for their hungry, vulnerable neighbors fills my heart.

I have had signs on my front lawn calling for people to unite on principles vs. party lines. I fly an American flag with a sign beneath it that says Dissent is Patriotic.

I gave donations to food banks to max out the 100% company match by my employer. I emailed a local food bank asking to volunteer, emailed the superintendent of our school district asking them to speak about hunger in our community in the next newsletter that goes to all parents.

I found out a local restaurant was feeding kids affected by SNAP benefits and I ordered take out from them, telling them I sought them out to give them business because they are supporting our community.

I share and interact with posts on socials to tell the algorithms this is what I want to see in my feed :)

This is so powerful, Michaela. It’s easy to feel small in moments like these, but what you’re doing shows how much one person’s effort can make a difference. Thank you for reminding us what civic care looks like in practice! 🩵

Husband and I volunteer at a nonprofit Food Bank. He works at the Food bank, carrying out groceries to member’s cars, and I work at their Thrift Store, where all sales go to buy food. We worked Wednesday from 9-2. Lines for food were long, but people were patient and thankful.

I stayed up Tuesday night to watch all the results come in. I was absolutely thrilled with the outcome! It gave me hope that we can save our democracy if we all work together! I feel like the tide is turning!!

In the reddest of red MS we flipped a house seat and 2 senate seats in the state legislature, breaking the Republican supermajority in the senate for the first time in 13 years! Scott Colum, a black man, is running against the queen of white supremacy and Trump boot licker, Cindy Hyde-Smith, for U.S. Senate next year. The high I would get from him unseating her would last months if not years 😁😏

When phone banking for Mamdani to GOTV on Election Day, I called a woman who couldn't vote because she walks with a walker and the elevator in her building hasn't worked in a week. I filled a complaint for her on the 311 website.

Tyranny or democracy?

The choice is clear.

Our libraries are collecting food for kids, so I dropped off cans of soup, peanut butter, and a few other things. It feels like a drop in the ocean, but I have to hope it makes a difference.

It's heartbreaking that this administration let it come to this. However, I've seen so much giving from the American people. People care. I care. I donated as much as I could to Feed America, Greater Good, and our local food bank. It takes a village, and that village has turned into a city that is turning out every day for the American people.

I was out of town during Halloween however, since last weekend, I have been putting out a table full of food every day. I also have two ice chest where I add whatever meat I can milk and other refrigerated supplies. Every day I go out and I have to restock the food. I have fresh vegetables, potatoes, rice beans, canned goods, noodles, condiments, bread, peanut butter, and more. I will continue to do this as long as I’m financially able to. No one should be hungry. Meanwhile, they’re taking a wrecking ball to the White House. What’s happened to our priorities in this country?

It's not "this country" that has upside down priorities! It's a few know-it-alls who think they have better ideas than our Founding Fathers, our Constitution, and our Bill of Rights - foundations of democracy since 1776: No kings; one person, one vote; the rule of law that applies to all regardless of wealth or gender, race or status; separation of powers in a federalist system among the Legislatire (Congress) - and the Executive (President and a duly appointed cabinet approved by the Congress) - and the Judiciary (

the Courts - a.system of judges who follow the highest legal court, The Supreme Court of the United States - AKA SCOTUS.) I could go on describing what the anarchists and authoritarians who would trade our sovereignty for their brand of "safety" where our due process under the law and freedoms of speech, assembly, association and right to vote are shrunk and dissolved to make the rich richer and more powerful.

To close, I think the 13 million #nokings marchers October 22, 2025 and the millions others of their supporters send a clear message to all: The United States is a free and fair democracy, and we will not be moved from that foundation of liberty, and justice for all!

I definitely voted blue this week! I donated a small monetary amount to a local food bank. And I made calls and intend to make calls again everyday next week to Congress telling them to end the shutdown by negotiating with the Democrats on healthcare. It's nice to take a deep breath and see how the elections turned out in our favor. So thankful for everyone participating in the resistance!

When canvassing for a local election last week I came across a family whose husband is furloughed and whose good friends were losing SNAP benefits. Already, our House Representative Melanie Stansbury, had planned on a resource fair, being held today, 11/7, that includes food banks, utility companies and others, for a community support fair. Our local democratic group is having our local food bank join our meeting this week so members can bring in monetary donations. All of those resources are being shared with these families. Everyone is pitching in to offer support. It won't solve all of their problems, but we can address some of them and let them know we care and are actively trying to help. Have a community fair, like Rep. Stansbury is doing!!

We have dropped off 1 large shopping bag so far of non-perishable food for our local United Way homeless teen and other programs. We donate money through our church and civic organizations to other local food pantries and programs in Carlton County Minnesota.

Ii volunteer at and donate to our local food pantry. I also belong to weekly stand out in a bordering town. We have developed a handout listing all the food resources in our area which we make available at our protests. Oh, and my job is working with low income folks who are facing eviction. I made sure I provided them with information regarding food sources in their area. Want to see firsthand how the Trump administration's policies are hurting the poor, just do my job!
