That's part of what makes this so absurd. There was already a mountain of evidence that grievance-based audiences are easy to manipulate, and now it's more scalable. The barrier to entry is so low. Really anyone can do it as a side hustle.
There needs to be a federal law requiring bots to identify themselves as such, with a small fine for every person receiving posts from the transgressors.
Years ago, I read comments by a “political influencer” who claimed that he had given up on trying to make money off of liberals and focused on the conservatives because they were “dumb as posts”!
