I grew up in DC taking family there for tours throughout my life. I was in Crystal City VA on 9/11/2001. That afternoon I drove past the Pentagon in tears. How dare anyone attack our country like this. Washington DC and its monuments hold are dear to me. When I woke up to pictures of the White House I thought it was attacked. It looked like the Pentagon on 9/11/2001 the difference being no smoldering smoke and it was a Domestic Terrorist. There were troops heading up 95 to guard our Nation’s capital. The current President. He is the Domestic Terrorist. He has troops in neighborhoods where there is little if any crime just for show of power. I swore an oath to defend the Constitution against domestic and international threats when I became an employee of the DOD. But honestly I had done that since I was a child of a naval officer. This must be stopped and he must be removed. I am physically and emotionally sick over this.

It really is eye-opening and agitating that he seems to get away with anything he wants.

Every day a new outrage. This is really too much. Isn’t anyone going to stop him?

Good thing that’s one of the values of The 50501 Movement!

He is asking himself the same question. Dementia combined with Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Oh my!

I’m horrified. The White House is the people’s house. It is a historic building, a museum, and a symbol of our democracy. It is where our presidents live and work, but it does NOT belong to any president. Trump should be attested for destroying public property.

All presidents of past yrs have been guests in “OUR HOUSE ”. Not owners. They were allowed to reside there for the length of their 4-8 yr terms. It is not theirs to do with as they please without permission.

I am totally enraged and disgusted, as I’m sure most are. “We the People”, need to demand more from those ppl we voted in to represent us, including the spineless GOP.

I hope that the midterms - our “ free and fair “ elections are still ALLOWED and kept that way, so we have a loud voice that will be heard.

Exactly! I’ve been waiting for someone to recognize this for what it is.

To be honest, I think people who supported / voted for Trump because he gave them legitimacy to become bigots or racists, even at the cost of their livelihoods (soy farmers, anyone?). I theorized about it here:

I will contribute to tearing down the monstrosity and rebuilding the east wing when the motherfucker is gone.

You assume he is actually leaving. I cant imagine someone so selfish would build a ballroom that will be ready for his predecessor… he is planning on staying as long as he can. We need to do more now while we still can to get this admin gone. At this point Pete B is right it’s not about bandaids but rebuilding our democracy from the ground up.

It’s a metaphor for what Trump is doing to our country. The images are jarring and there is no way that gargantuan building will not cost the tax payers for upkeep and maintenance and probably to build. My heart is broken over it.

Of course THE WOMENS WING WOULD BE DEMOLISHED! But lookout because NOTHING IS LIKE THE SCORN OF WOMEN! WE WILL UNITE!

This is just another criminal act that he’s inflicting on us. This is the people’s house. Did he ask us if it was ok? As usually he doesn’t give a d**m about us, the American people.

I fully agree but would like to point out that Betty Ford PREceded Rosalynn Carter as first lady so deserves a little more credit for her role in establishing the modern role of the first lady than a simple postscript.

I’ll tweak that section to reflect more of what Betty did, thank you!

This is the biggest show of disrespect so far by Trump. How dare he tear down the East Wing of the White House without approval. This is an historic building and while it has been updated through the years, it has always been maintained. I think it is another way to rid the White House of the women who have so nobly served as First Lady. It also shows that he never intends to leave. Why would you do all this if you were leaving? This just makes me sick and it’s another reason that tRump belongs in prison.

It makes me feel physically ill every time I see what he's doing to this country and especially what he just did to our East Wing. It is not his building, it is ours!

This “plans changed” is all bullshit. They had the plans all along, but they lied and told the public what they wanted to hear so they wouldn’t complain too much. “Plans changed” really means “We lied to you., you gullible idiots. This was the plan all along. We do what we want when we want, and we don’t care what you think.” That’s what they’d say if they were capable of saying anything even remotely close to the truth.

‼️”For 48 years, that wing represented something sentimental and powerful:

That women's work in American democracy wasn't invisible anymore and it had a dedicated place. It had office space and it had permanence.

Until Monday morning, October 20th, 2025.”
