The evil hand of Bovino and Co. reaches down to sow fear and chaos. This isn’t government, it’s hell on earth!

Yes! People deserve to know who is operating in their neighborhoods, under what authority, and with what limits.

I just finished reading this appalling article, here on the countryside of Uruguay. The contrast between there and here is even more frightening. Not even during military dictatorship, which lasted till 1984, such dreadful things happened, and atrocities were committed by either them and the tupamaros. My family arrived in 1979. We were issued a temporary CI (cédula de identidad), with our birthplace (Perú) included. Police stopped us, asked for them, let us go on. The USA ICE, with a democracy, are behaving worse. They are a small Geheime Staatspolizei with licence to kill. I shall download and archive this article to quietly peruse, when I am less shaken.

Thank you for sharing this. Communities raising the alarm early is so important. None of us should wait until the damage is already done to push back.

I just opened the page. The left here won the presidency in the 2024 elections by a narrow margin with the nacionalistas (whites). Since the 1st March, Yamandú Orsi, groomed by his predecessor José Mujica (deceased MPP aka tupamaro, the most left wing of the left), has played the role of the invisible president. The workers' syndicates, form nurses to teachers, are omnipresent with their main signatures paro general (general strike), desfile por 18 de Julio (parade through Main Street in Montevideo), and asamblea (meeting). He only appears at inaugurations and anniversaries, making almost no declarations.

Your article also reminded me that, during the military regime, the exiled leftists didn't search for asylum in Cuba or the DDR. No, most went to Sweden, a socialist country. I knew one, deceased, she learnt Swedish and taught it here once democracy returned. I took care of her animals and we spoke a lot about "Wallander", how the Spanish subtitles weren't accurate, the differences between Swedish and German.

The only time I approached the other side of the Iron Curtain was when we lived in Europe, and crossed the border at Trieste to visit Lipica, Yugoslavia. We went from a gaily coloured country to a weepingly drab country. Everything was greyish, the naked concrete of the flats, the clothing, even the dour faces. The only time we saw smiles was at the artisans' market. We had to officially pay in dinars, but when our parents showed lire, the woman selling us her crafts accepted them, tucked them inside her clothing, gave us change in dinars, a couple extra crafts, and told us she would be able to buy Italian articles. We gladly left that country.

When a friend visited Cuba (he won first prize on a raffle), about the same history. He directly gave the cleaning maid dollars, if he left even only one on the bedside table, her manager would take it. He on purpose left the telly on, since the employees were forbidden to touch the guests' things, while he was away, the employees could listen to CNN for hours. When he left, he gave the maid twenty dollars in one dollar bills, she wept, they were worth many pesos and also accepted currency on the black market.

I apologise for the rant, your article brought back memories.

This is beyond horrible. And the use of a children's book title is reprehensible, making light of a tragic situation. Stuart Stevens suggested the blue state governors join together and muster their state's militias. That sounds like a good idea. Fight fire with fire.

KKK starting in Indiana in about 1922 and spread through out our country for several under “Grand Dragon” DC Stevenson going after Blacks, Jews, Italians, Catholics etc until he raped physically abused a young woman who died from massive infection from bites on her body. He bragged “I am the Law” but he was convicted and sent to prison for life in 1925 which finally opened the country’s eyes to see what KKK (white nationalists) was all about

Read Fever in the Heartland. The KKK type ills of our country must be changed by loving, caring citizens who know all lives matter.

This is such an important reminder. Systems don’t become dangerous overnight they gradually evolve. The past doesn’t perfectly mirror the present, but the throughline is the same: when agencies operate without oversight, the public pays the price. Thank you for laying this out so clearly.

Thanks for the resources and visibility.

There have been confirmed reports that F$&king ICE is in Asheville, NC too which is a couple of hours away from Charlotte.

It was only a matter of time for Asheville. We’re a blue dot sanctuary city surrounded by a sea of red jackasses. We will not let this stand! There are already protests and mutual aid groups popping up everywhere to give our immigrant friends, neighbors, and family rides to the grocery store, school, church, or wherever they’re afraid to go. We’re collecting food and anything else they may need.

I’m so angry at the terror they’re inflicting on the entire community, I want to cry. ICE jackboots aren’t here in the name of “public safety!” They’re here to terrorize communities. Abolish ICE!

It’s time to remember the second amendment and use it for these shitters. See how they really feel about terrorism. And all the rest. Gitmo. It’s time to either add on to Gitmo or start tearing down all the prisons to level the terror field. Call it bounty hunting. Tear off their masks and incarcerate or whatever. These are ss gestapo bootlicks

They've been brainwashed to believe all that's being taken are illegal criminals. They have been told anyone without citizenship is illegal. They have no clue that it takes years, lots of money, and lots of time in court to gain that citizenship. They don't know, or care, that while going through that process you are NOT illegal. They've also been brainwashed to believe these "illegals" are using citizen only benefits like SNAP & Medicaid. They refuse to listen when told, even with factual links attached, that "illegals" aren't allowed on those programs.

It's taken decades of slow manipulation, and subtle brainwashing, to twist the truth into the reality of lies they now live, and believe, in. That's not something that can just end easily overnight. That's outside of those that are truly just racist pieces of sh*t anyway. The ones that believe in white supremacy & nationalism.

Enraging. I would like to think that nobody voted for this cold, heartless implementation of an immoral racist ideology, intentionally catastrophic to the most vulnerable. Stephen Miller is evil, as are those who willingly do his bidding with unnecessary violence and extreme disrespect. Bovino is a home-grown brownshirt.

Deplorable actions from ICE in another city! I live in NC but in an area that they wouldn’t bother with, western NC. I could be wrong about this. Nobody really knows what they will do next. I’m sickened by what they’ve done in Charlotte and everywhere else!!

You know what… It's easy to look at Greg Bovino as an overcompensating little Nazi prick traumatized to his core by something he thinks “toughness” can cure, but ever since Reagan put an asskicking on Democrats…

THEY have been traumatized into into “Tough on *fill in the blank*” bullshxt pandering for Republican votes that has directly caused devastating harm to the exact communities an opposition party should be fighting against!

This is just a quick thought for now. I want to develop it further... because there is a big debate about the direction the Democratic Party should take going forward and they have a REAL blind spot about the mistakes they have made and learning from them!!!

I thought it was now illegal for ICE to wear masks due to non ICE kidnapping people, which in my mind was a given when they started this. We are now under a dictatorship and theres no denying it. The supreme court’s are under his thumb and that is the last stop of authority! We are doomed!
