We are swamped with technology. Data centers are draining our resources. There's not an infinite supply of the needs for over eight billion people on this planet. Musk seems to think it's his duty to personally increase the population as much as possible. Global warming is real, not a hoax. Humans face extinction, certainly, we are accelerating it every day with the ignorance that comes with hubris. Our problems multiply daily yet we carry on, fighting for the intelligence necessary to overcome the hapless people now planning the future. Don't give up should be the call of 2026 for all of us who value our freedoms over the amoral advocates for control who are now in power.

So well said... I agree with you 1000%...We must keep on keeping on if only that our conscience will be clear at the end...Sending love and strength to you, fellow person of open heart and clear mind...May we and those like us prevail...

Anne,

Your reply is very kind and I thank you for it. 2026 will be a major turning point in the efforts to save our democracy. We must persevere and not give up. Share your enthusiasm for defending our freedoms with everyone you can. Be strong in your message of importance for the dangers are really threatening our future. Always remember history pays tribute to those who hold humanity as a higher value than money.

This walkout has to include cancelling media. Think Disney vs Kimmel. Think about what would happen if on January 20 we cancelled our subscriptions. Wouldn’t that send a bigly message?

“All of the above” wasn’t an option but thats what I’m shooting for. Great summary of 2025 in numbers and what this new year calls us to do!

Sustained protest works. Ask Europe. One-offs are just feel good stuff. Please organize sustained protest- many weeks in a row- in DC. Occupy Congress. Secondly, make the general strike you are planning last for at least a week. You have the platform- We the People will show.

Note- I want to be part of whatever you do that is not a one-off. Suggestions on connecting with people in the DC area? Names/contacts for any groups or individuals would be much appreciated.

Go to the Indivisible website. You can find a group in your area or use their toolkit to start your own. Get on the Mobilize 50501 list to receive notifications about events both local and national.

As a disabled former teacher (tbi due to domestic violence. on ssi), it’s frustrating that I am unable to do all that I want to protect our democracy, but I do stay knowledgeable and try my best to pass on truths as well as upcoming events.

Well said. Even in the rigged state of SC, the protests have gained momentum. Marching in columbia, SC was the largest protest I've ever participated in

I plan to continue writing postcards to likely unregistered Democrat voters. I'm at 3500 now and my goal is to reach 5000 by April. Then onward with more!

Your Jan. 20 WALK OUT doesn’t make sense. I am retired, do I walk out my front door? What about people with jobs. They are not (and should not) sacrifice their livelihood. What about teachers, Drs., nurses. These people can’t simply WALK OUT.

Plus how long does one WALK OUT for. Sorry, I am for a protest, the is seems like it could just do damage to our own people.

Here in Uruguay, the 2012 census was conducted with pen and paper. Done in less than a month. The 2022 census was digitally made, with portable apparatus imported from Brazil. It lasted about 3 months, the computer system crashed several times, and left people witjout censing. The same with voting. When the votes were noted with pen and paper, everything went well. In the last elections, the computers programmed to inscribe the votes failed. Back to pen and paper. Besides, the vote would be inscribed in the Credencial Cívica, which had a chip for that. Impossible. A strip of paper with the proof of voting (voting is compulsory here) written down, as in pre-computer times, and handed to the voter. I wrap it around my CC, in case I am asked for it. Technology ... ha!

Thank you for sharing. I far prefer the paper ballots, too.

Ballot. That was the word I needed. Thank you.
