DO YOU WANT TO STOP A U.S. CIVIL WAR? T

HIS MAY BE YOUR LAST CHANCE TO DO SO.

A massive general strike is the next logical step. Trump is running a criminal enterprise. His dregs of society Gestapo wanna- be goon squads are executing Americans in cold blood. Your reaction cannot be, “But how will it work? Will others join? I can’t afford it.” Right now, after all the evidence we have seen in Trump’s first year, everyone should see the writing on the wall. America has been hijacked by agents of chaos. The regime is a willing partner with Putin and other authoritarian leaders around the world. Trump is on a rampage to destroy, rape and pillage at home and abroad. He has always been the same person, fuelled by greed and criminal instincts, that convince him that he alone is deserving of whatever he desires. He has always been a felon, a racist, a bigot and a selfish prick, whose first and last concern is himself. He managed to amass his varying groups of followers by pandering to their differing offensive mandates. He unified his rabid base because he promised to deliver to each group, despite the fact that their very varied ideals will eventually force them to battle amongst themselves. In reality, Trump is a charlatan. He is the ultimate con man, and he will end up betraying even those aligned with his convoluted policies over time. How can the Christian zealots supporting Israel not see that the Nazis will come for them eventually. How can the broligarchs enriching Trump not see that his nature will demand that he comes for their power and wealth. They are all blinded by the mirage of pending victory, with the useful idiot President’s charade, of appeasing them, to achieve his own agenda of complete dominance. Trump doesn’t give a flying fuck about any of his supporters causes or beliefs. He wants to be King of more than America, and he wants to name the heir to his stolen throne, to continue his legacy. You may be thinking that the battle for democracy and your basic rights has been difficult thus far. You may be thinking you are exhausted and depressed by the overwhelming barrage of daily indignities and assaults on your liberties. That is understandable. But understand this: The fight has just begun. You need to dig deep in your resolve and realize that surrender is not an option, unless you want to be merely enslaved by the demented dictator and his corrupt accomplices. The only force that might possibly correct this aberration in power is you. You must be willing to suffer the discomfort of an extended strike, which may last weeks or months, if you wish to eliminate the possibility of living under authoritarian rule for decades to come. As of today, there is no more normal. There is only a crazed psychopath wielding indiscriminate power to subjugate America and beyond. Only you can alter that course. You can use whatever motivational disgust you need to enrage yourself, be it the execution of innocent protesters, the inhumane treatment of immigrants, the destruction of healthcare, the attacking of allies, the disregard for veterans, or the coverup of the Trumpstein files, but there has to be one collective goal and demand. Donald Trump and his criminally corrupt cabinet and the complicit politicians who allow the atrocities to continue, must be removed from power. Period. Complete regime change is the only acceptable outcome, and you must be prepared to fight for that goal with every ounce of resolve you can muster. Sitting back and praying for a correction in the midterms is a fool’s gambit. The emergency is NOW!

Every Blue state should immediately activate and mobilize its National Guard to protect itself from hostile invasion by the federal government. Blue and purple states should combine and coordinate forces, enlist the fired generals, admirals and commanders to take charge of these forces, neutralize ICE and secure our borders, and form alliances with Canada and NATO. Minneapolis is our Fort Sumter. They have begun a new civil war and we must defend ourselves and our patriotic values.

There is merit to your idea. If things devolve into a full-blown civil war, I think Mexico and Canada will become important allies.

Mr. King,

How aptly you described Trump for all his hideous attributes. The battle is on, good against evil, in the simplest terms possible. History bears witness to this time and time again. It's nothing new, just the circumstances change. We must protest, demonstrate, show our resolve in opposition to Trump et al as often as possible. However, I do believe the 2026 elections are important and can result in a resounding removal of the Republicans implementing the destruction of our freedoms. We must retain the ideals set forth two hundred and fifty years ago, government by laws, not control by tyranny. Saving America is not easy but Trump's unquenchable greed and hubris will be his demise. He alone will sink his own ship of fools. Bet on it. Remember, you can fool some of the people some of the time but you can't fool all of the people all of the time.

Thank you Joanne.

There are many things which make me uneasy about the 2026/28 elections. One of my main concerns is that a Trump loyalist bought and controls Dominion Voting machines, which are used to tabulate the results in 27 states.

If elections were fair and honest, I have no doubt Dems would do great. Unfortunately, fair and honest are not words in the Republican vocabulary.

Can 50501 please call for a general strike that does not expire in a day? A sustained strike will get results. We can support persons who cannot afford to walk off the job via Go Fund Me. Some vetting would be needed because scammers are pervasive.

So please plan a strike that lasts, for example, 10 days. It should be done ASAP. You have the platform. Please help us avoid the civil war that the Nazis want.

Teri C's avatar

Better yet, just start. Keep going as long as possible. Stop when we get real results, not crumbs.

I agree. I reach about 250 people, some of whom are more interested in solicitation than politics. But if we all keep restacking….

I just want to say that amongst the sadness and emotional overload over the many past months, I felt a huge surge of hope seeing your announcement for February 17 Impeachment Day. Thank you isn't good enough. Although I've been following you for years, I'm subscribing today to support this organization. I think every protest has been huge in the last year, but I feel like this one is going to be the last straw for the whole regime. Thank you for working so hard to save our democracy. Stay brave. Stay strong.

Sacrifice is not easy

The following excerpt is from a Washington Post Op-ed from 2020 regarding the Pandemic, but the lessons apply perfectly to opposing the current fascist takeover.

“Sacrifice is not easy and natural, but it can happen. And yet, the language of sacrifice faded in the aftermath of a more popular, more total and more demanding conflict for Americans. Following World War II, the “good war,” politicians, business leaders, unions and many Americans embraced the idea that mass consumption would drive economic prosperity. Even in the midst of the burgeoning Cold War, such a notion supplanted more collectivist notions of community and sacrifice, in part because those were increasingly stigmatized as “socialist” or “communist.” This offered an individualist reaffirmation of the nation’s democratic values and became central to American identity. Mass consumption and participation in the economy, not sacrifice, increasingly came to signal one’s patriotism.

The last military draft in the United States ended in 1973, and since then, service and sacrifice have been voluntary and borne unevenly. The fractures of national unity that came at the end of the Vietnam War and the distrust of government in the wake of Watergate helped to propel these changes. In their wake, collective sacrifice has been extolled by politicians but never urged, much less required. Instead, market logics and consumer-citizenship has been the default setting for how to practice engaged models of citizenship.

Shopping, traveling and showing confidence in the economy have come to define American citizenship and even responses to collective existential threats such as terrorism and emergencies, including deadly viral outbreaks.

The challenges the nation now faces are dire and require sacrifice, not consumption. The problem is that Americans have been actively discouraged by their leaders from making sacrifices in support of larger efforts — including wars, fossil fuel consumption, global warming, the Great Recession and the current pandemic. Confronting the looming public health, economic and climate challenges today requires a wholesale change in how citizens and the state conceive and construct a rhetoric as well as a practice of collective sacrifice.”

Sacrifice is Necessary

Defeating the fascists in WWII did not happen without sacrifice from the citizens of the Allied countries. We will have to sacrifice to stop and reverse the fascist takeover of our country. We can sacrifice a little now or a much greater amount later. What kind of world will our children and grandchildren live in if we allow this to continue?

How much do you want to stop His Royal Heinous and the fascist takeover of the country?

Enough that you’re willing to make a small sacrifice? Like altering your spending habits for a month or two or three? That could be all it would take to get the attention of the oligarchs (formerly known as The Robber Barons in the first Gilded Age, also The Fat Cats, The Greedy Bastards).

A brief demonstration of We, the People’s, power of the purse could persuade them to quit supporting HRH and the politicians who enable him.

We quit spending, except on essentials, businesses lose money, stock market goes down, Greedy Bastards pay attention to our demands.

Greedy Bastards own most of the politicians of both major parties. GBs start losing money, then they tell the politicians to change course and do what We, the People want.

Spending Strike, Spending Freeze, Spending Suspension, Spending Pause, Economic Disengagement, Economic Warfare, Stop Spending!, even Boycott. Choose your favorite but Do It, and Spread the Word!

If a single dollar doubles every day for 30 days, it reaches a total of over $536 million ($536,870,912) at the end of the 30th day.

So, would it follow, that a single voice that doubled everyday would become 536 million voices after 30 days? That seems doable.

From Mark Mansour:

Sacrifice has always been the price of renewal. Democracy, if it is to survive, cannot be the cheap luxury item of a populace too comfortable to fight for it. The Trump regime can be resisted through civic courage, legal challenge, and organization. But it can also be starved—one deliberate, withheld dollar at a time.

We should doggedly demand impeachment!

Last night I called and left messages for several Republicans in Congress (Masse, Collins, Tillis and Murkowski) that state sanctioned murder in our streets can’t continue and to support impeachment. You can call their state offices, not just DC, and leave your name only.

It's been a sad year for America since little dick took control of the country. I was so pleased to read of the CITIZENS IMPEACHMENT to remove him from office. If the politicians can't or won't act then it's up to the people to save themselves from this scourge on humanity. All he cares about is wealth and increasing the wealth of his oligarch enablers because through bribes he makes more money. They depend on each other. If nothing else, this people-led moment in history will strengthen your resolve to not allow this destruction of your democracy by evil leaders to get this close again. This battle will be won but the battle to attain victory over your rights must be always in the front of your minds from here on in. Kudo's to the people of Minnesota for leading the way. Every State in the Nation will be encouraged to follow you. Thank you all! Live free! Now Russians need to be chased out of Ukraine, it's way past due. The Ukrainian heroism and fighting spirit was beyond most peoples comprehension. A fight for democracy in one land is a fight for all people in all lands. Iranians are also fighting for democracy don't allow Bibi and little dick to screw up their chances. They both want to dominate the Middle East too!
