What is 50501.co? (And why is it missing the “M” in .com?)
Yes, it’s .co, not .com…
The 50501 network is using 50501.co because it was an available domain. It’s short and easy to remember for the project. “.co”. It might look strange if you’re used to typing “.com.”, once you know what the name is, it’s easy to remember: 50501.co
50501.co is our new network building initiative that connects chapters, organizers, events, resources, and articles across 50501 groups. (Now over 160 listed in the directory!)
How does 50501 benefit from this new website?
Decentralization makes the movement resilient but can also make it difficult to see and find information when hype dies down.
50501 is decentralized so chapters and organizers answer to their own communities.
For example, an organizer in in one state might have no clue what an organizer in another state is working on which means that ideas can go unnoticed in a state or group without a way to learn from other organizers or community actions. 50501.co is an attempt at connecting ideas, actions, groups, and chapters to create a strong and unified network.
Does joining the 50501.co network mean giving up chapter independence?
Not at all, the purpose of 50501.co is connection.
Different chapters can focus on completely different issues, publish in their own style, and organize in ways that make sense to their community.
50501.co gives independent groups a shared network where work can be easier to find and collaborate if groups choose to.
Who’s building 50501.co?
A mix of 50501 organizers, chapter-site owners, technical volunteers, and regular-movement volunteers.
Is the site finished?
50501.co is still growing with 50501.
Features are still being worked on and not every chapter is using their space yet but it’s gaining momentum as more chapters are added to it.
Just in the last few weeks, there have been several major improvements as we continue to get feedback and new ideas! Let us know what you recommend, comment below.
My local group isn’t listed…
If your group is missing, you can help get it connected and placed on the map. 50501.co is new and the directory is still growing. Not every group is represented yet.
If there isn’t a 50501 chapter in your community, 50501.co has a start a chapter form with info on getting connected with training, resources, and experienced organizers to help get a group going.
And if your chapter already has a site on 50501.co, use it! Post an upcoming event for your group, share an lesson, publish a community update, or tell the rest of us what your community is doing.
I’m involved with another group. Can I still get added to the 50501.co map?
Absolutely. Being part of another organization doesn’t mean you have to pick one movement.
If you already organize with a local group, mutual-aid network, union, community organization, or another group, that can be a great way to grow your community efforts. We encourage community organizers to build relationships with existing community groups, collaborate, and co-host actions.
If you want to start or help build a 50501 chapter in your area, there’s still an onboarding process and shared movement values to follow but you don’t have to leave the other work you’re already doing.
What happens next is up to all of us
50501.co can be used for brainstorming and connecting everywhere.
Help us build the next chapter of the 50501 movement. Here’s more of what you can expect from 50501.co:
Chapters sharing what they’re working on like projects and actions.
Organizers sharing lessons that could help other groups.
Protesters and community members finding groups they didn’t know existed.
Groups working together and joining forces to make a difference.

Yay! I love this! Thank you so much!
This is welcome news. Having submitted comments myself to 50501 and receiving likes and responses as a result, I understand the importance of connectivity in our battle against the corrupt Trump administration. I do have a burning question however. Why has no class action lawsuit been filed against Trump on behalf of the millions of people he is swindling with his graft and corruption? The evidence of using tax payer money for his personal ambitions is overwhelming. Twenty three states have a Democrat as Attorney General. Not one of them has filed class action on behalf of their state. I totally understand the complexity of the American legal system can pose many obstacles. Even so, certainly our legal field must have someone who has the gumption to take legal action against Trump for his fraud. Who out there is paying enough attention to do something? Al Capone went to prison for tax fraud, not being a mobster. Trump taxes are equally suspect, plus his outright theft of tax payer money. Justice ignored is justice denied. Someone DO something.
