Posted on Alt National Park Service…We're honored to announce a final count of 13.14 million in attendance across 2,300+ No Kings protests nationwide. It took a little longer to finalize due to the sheer scale, but the turnout was historic!

Why is this so different from the ACLU number around 5 million?

Ghostwriter in the Sky ✨💘's avatar

They are doing a lazy calculation of avg 2,500 crowds times 2000 registered places = 5M. But Boston & Bay Area alone had over 1M… Philly & LA areas, add all the outlying areas & unregistered places…

I can’t explain the difference.

How can we share this??

On the bottom of the article you’ll see four grey blocks. The one farthest to the right is for sharing. Click on that for options (text, email, etc).

I’m holding democracy luncheons and dinners. Buying sheets and pillowcases for banner hanging and flying. Full Pullman.

So. I heard today (source from academian researching authoritarianism) that recent research on how to get rid of a dictator has shown that peaceful opposition is more effective than violent confrontation. Surprisingly the percent of the population which needs to protest is 3.5%. The current US population is about 347 million. So… All we need are 12 million 125 thousand of us. Doesn’t that seem achievable? It seems from your calculation we have already done it.

Which leads to the conclusion that what we NO KINGS people need to do is just keep doing what we have done so far. Peaceful protests which to me, a graduate of the 1968 protests, have found the people at the protests I joined not only peaceful but finding joy in expressing our commitment to democracy. I think it is a winning strategy.

Let’s get way more than 12 million!

Absolutely. Everyone can join us!!!

Before and after too, keep up the good trouble!

Call. Write. Email. Protest. Unrelentingly.

Use/share this spreadsheet as a resource to call/email/write members of Congress, the Cabinet and news organizations. Reach out to those in your own state, as well as those in others. Use your voice and make some “good trouble” ❤️‍🩹🤍💙

I’ve used ChatGPT do do 4 routes across America forming an ‘X’ and a ‘+’. NW2SE, NE2SW, N2S, E2W. The routes have the main towns listed. It takes about 4 million per route for and campaign Newton hands across America.

You can drive with signs in your car, balloons etc and honk to support the others as you go by! There were SO many cars doing that when I was in MI for No Kings 💖 was invigorating to the spirit!

Exactly!! We can all play a role and work together to topple this corrupt regime.

Why a Thursday people have to work!

KateInPA's avatar

Why the 17th one a Thursday!! That immediately limits having great attendance. 😒

I will be protesting at the capital because this day is supposed to celebrate our freedom from tyranny and there's no such thing in this country right now so I'm not celebrating freedom from tyranny until we are free from tyranny

I strongly believe the opposition truly needs a top level council with representatives from all the disparate opposition groups.

The level of coalition around June 14th is a positive sign, but we need much, much more. The Heritage Foundation, Federalist Society, and billionaire oligarchs have been organized at least since Reagan.

This council would formulate strategic goals and coordinate protests, boycotts, work actions, and ultimately, civil disobedience actions.

Where can I find out about local protests in Southern Oregon?

I’m curious if the 50501 platform is democratic socialism? Or is this up to local leaders. The Cincinnati march had the 50501 leaders with megaphones using “from the river to the sea” I guess you guys aren’t worried about making Jewish Americans afraid. I was told that they call themselves DemSoc but are more of a nihilist flavor.

I Resist's avatar

I think labels are not a good thing. We are all Americans coming together to save Democracy. We need to be inclusive!

Chels's avatar

That’s what I was hoping for but our local chapter of 50501 has its own agenda

What does everybody think about getting permission to play “We Are The World” at protest marches? I think it's time to revive that song and bring the good parts of this world back together.

I’ll be protest on July 4th. I’ll donate to the food bank and Salvation Army but with the bombing I’m taking to the streets!!

I have been reading and watching about the 3.5% protest rule for overthrowing dictators (for example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x4syl-hZ9_I Is anyone trying to make this happen? Does anybody know more? Definitely watch this podcast!
