We’re a Grassroots Movement
As everyone in the 50501 Movement knows, we’re a grassroots, decentralized network with no central leadership, no headquarters, no treasury. That’s our strength but it also means we need independent infrastructure.
This publication helps that infrastructure.
I’m an independent organizer and communications coordinator within the movement. I gather stories from organizers across the country, create resources that get shared in hundreds of local groups, and contribute to the connective tissue that keeps our decentralized movement coordinated.

“Are you part of the official 50501 organization?”
There is no “official” organization. 50501 is a decentralized movement. I’m an independent organizer endorsed by other organizers and linked on movement websites, but I operate autonomously.
“Where does my money go?”
To fund this publication. Content, research, and writing. This is independent journalism and organizing infrastructure. The 50501 Substack operates as a for-profit so we can sustain this full-time if we hit our goals. This is NOT a charity or nonprofit and subscriptions are not tax-deductible.
“Can I trust this?”
The 50501 name and logo are public domain and anyone in the movement can use them. I’ve been doing this work since the early 50501 days in February 2025, and now serving 80,000+ subscribers. Other organizers endorse and link to this publication. You can verify this by checking the official 50501 website. I also created and admin The 50501 Facebook group with over 350k members where our publication gets a lot of inspiration from posts and comments that come from the group to keep a ground-up approach and to honor the grassroots in 50501.
